Well hello there…..how are you?
You are probably wondering who I am right?
Well please let me introduce myself, my name is David, I love sports (especially football….Go Titans!), breaking bread with family and friends, and helping people reach their greatest potential via fitness!
Here is my story…
I was overweight in high school. In Grade 12, I weighed 282 pounds. I had a serious back injury that didn’t allow me to play sports or exercise for an extended period of time.
I was dealing with some depression and low confidence at the time. Felt embarrassed to wear shorts because I thought my legs were to wide and thick (true story). I thought I would resolve my internal issues with food….I thought it was going to make me happy and dig me out of the sadness I was in. Well……I was wrong. I figured out that overeating and binging on food was not an effective way to deal with my emotions.
Why did I make a change?
I reached a point where I had enough, I wasn’t happy with myself emotionally and physically. After 12th grade I started to make a change to my nutrition (specifically food choice and amount) and overall exercise activity. Overtime, those changes, done on a consistent basis, led to the physique I currently have. I have lost a total of 75 pounds in my life time.
Why did I become a personal trainer?
I couldn’t have done it without the help of multiple coaches/mentors. I am extremely grateful with the help I received from them, it was instrumental to helping me reach my goals. The help I got inspired me to give back and help others…..as I know and understand how if feels to have low confidence and self-esteem. I developed a passion towards fitness, teaching, and wanting to help people achieve their best self in fitness during my journey.
This is when I decided to become a trainer. I got a Bachelors of Arts in Kinesiology, after that I trained at a commercial gym for 5+ years. During the 5+ years of gym experience, I have helped hundreds of people in the gym…ranging from doctors, students, teachers, nurses, customer service representatives, marketers, etc. I have invested in numerous courses such as Pre-Script, Muscle Nerds, Functional Range Conditioning, Metabolic Analytics, and fitness related books/videos to help my clients be their best self!
